Ben’s trophies don’t end their days mounted to living room walls with glassy-eyed stares. Growing up in a place like Hawaii with a magic attraction for surfers means getting to know the ocean. And waves. And everything happening on and off the shore. The events and iconic stars of the legendary scene around the “Pipeline” are a home fixture for surfer Eric Sterman and his camera drones.
The biggest waves in Hawaii break on the north shore of O’ahu in the winter and create perfect conditions for amazing tube rides. Year after year, they attract the best surfers in the world – to compete against one another. The tight-knit community comes together once again, one with its own rules not open to just anybody.
As a North Shore local, Eric Sterman is very much an insider and known by everyone. He is as obsessed with the quest for the perfect wave as everybody else here, but unlike the others, he chases it with drones. Now one of the most celebrated cinematographers in the scene, he shoots for prestigious brands and supplies us with incredible exclusive footage of gigantic waves and conquering heroes.
Having grown up surrounded by natural wonders, he has high expectations when it comes to filming them. Eric travels through the entire Pacific region with his unmanned aerial systems and brings us the most beautiful waves, beaches and landscapes in HD and 4K. He also takes us to the dream weddings of friends and right through displays of exploding fireworks.
Everybody on Earth should see the film “Before the Flood”, the National Geographic documentary on the consequences of climate change made by Oscar award winners Leonardo diCaprio and Fisher Stevens (director). “Cousteau Diver” Didier Noirot submerges with 4K into the realm of Neptune
Fulfilling his childhood dream as a scuba diver on Jacques Cousteau’s team, was the stepping stone for Didier Noirot (photos below, in the middle with Captain Jacques Cousteau) that led him into an exciting life filming the world’s oceans. His imagery can be seen in the Emmy awarded BBC documentary series “Planet Earth” produced by Mark Brownlow and David Attenborough. Today, Noirot is counted among the best underwater filmmakers in the world.
A pioneer when it comes to underwater HD cinematography, these days Noirot films with the Red Epic camera. We are very excited to be able to present his unique footage shot in 4K within the Framepool webshop.
Among other techniques, his distinctive style includes close-ups of marine animals and long steady shots. His Red camera floats through the blue underwater world as if it was a marine creature itself, following sharks, circling shoals of fish and “dances” with dolphins.

Thomas Markert and Sven Schmid are not only engineers and filmmakers, but also extreme sports athletes and globetrotters. Our newest team of footage suppliers have created jaw-dropping HD footage with self-constructed multicopters containing active gyro-stabilized systems. No matter what terrain they are faced with, the two founders of “Aerovista” are able to handle their drones with ease and apparently have no fear of heights! From an early age, Thomas Markert loved to build and construct remote control airplanes and rockets. As a designing engineer for aircraft engines, Thomas gained expert knowledge which he then put to use to professionally develop Aerovista camera copters.
Mountains have always been the passion of Sven Schmid. In his book “Journey into the Unknown”, Sven writes about his bicycle adventure, a trip from Argentina to Canada. Dr Schmid’s knowledge is based on many years working as design engineer in aerospace technology in Germany, the USA, and in Brazil.

Autumn is here. The time of the year when nature is bursting with magical colors. The sun is shinning in a completely different angle through the leaves allowing for many possibilities to capture the beautiful images and we have done just that in our Autumn Showreel. Volcanoes fascinate but spread fear and terror at the same time. They can devastate whole regions during a very short timeframe, but also provide the basis for new life. The lava emerging from a volcanic eruption gives rise to islands and creates mineral-rich soils where plants grow well. Thanks to these fertile soils, roughly half a billion people worldwide live in close proximity to active volcanoes. Many of them are well aware of the danger – but they take this risk in exchange for abundant crops and warm thermal water. Especially on Iceland and in Japan, bathing in hot springs is very popular. But not only the physical well-being benefits from the hot water, it is also being used for energy production.
The IPCC Stockholm Conference 2013 warns again of rising sea levels, an impact of climate change on the oceans. Climate change is already threatening especially the most beautiful marine life of the earth. Human influence on the climate system is clear. This is evident in most regions of the globe, as the new assessment by the IPCC concludes. Steps to avoid CO2 are possible in everyday life of all of us. We show such a step for the film production.
