Many of us know Copenhagen and its Freetown Christiania, the Amalienborg and Charlottenborg, the Tivoli Gardens, and the Little Mermaid statue. But have you seen Ørestad?

This is a newly developed area in the city of Copenhagen, where state of the art European architects have gone to town: amazing lemon coloured structures with funky balconies, brightly-coloured studio apartments, terraced buildings Escher-style, many unusual features on residential structures, for example the balconies of the VM Houses, and the “Black Diamond”, an extension of the Danish Royal Library.
